David Krell Bio

David Krell creates value for attorneys who need their documents written, edited, or polished. Because of his diverse writing experience and legal background, David thinks like a lawyer, but writes like a writer -- compellingly, persuasively, clearly. A writer's eye combined with a keen understanding of the language of the law results in stripping away unnecessary legal prose, sharpening legal arguments, and improving documents.
In addition to legal writing services, David provides ancillary writing services for attorneys and business professionals -- copywriting, speechwriting, presentations.
David has been a guest lecturer at Villanova University School of Law’s Alumni Association, Jackson Walker law firm, Iona College, The New School, New York City Youth Law Conference, New York University, School for Visual Arts, and Mediabistro.com.
Legal Background
David has worked on the legal staff or as a consultant for Broadway Video, Golden Books Family Entertainment, and Classic Media. He consulted on projects concerning copyright litigation, acquisitions, and histories of the client's existing entertainment properties. These projects were vital in helping the clients successfully analyze, protect, and enforce intellectual property rights.
David also had his own practice where he secured trademarks for clients at the United States Patent & Trademark Office. He also counseled clients on best practices to protect their intellectual property.
David is a member of the bar in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. He has a law degree from Villanova University School of Law in Villanova, Pennsylvania. At Villanova, he won a spot on the Villanova Environmental Law Journal through a writing competition. He was also Editor-in-Chief of The Docket, the law school newspaper.
Additionally, David has an LLM in Intellectual Property degree from Cardozo School of Law in New York City.
Law Seminars, Conferences, and Workshops
In 2009, David created a unique, proactive, and hands-on CLE legal writing course -- Write This Way 2.0™. This course drills into the problems surrounding legal writing. Through exercises inspired by real-life legal situations, Write This Way 2.0™ reveals proven techniques to boost the effectiveness of legal documents. Write This Way 2.0™ can be held on-site at your law firm, organization, or corporation.
